This is me – Gracilis Bamboo Melbourne Australia

Hi All,

I am Amanda, one half of thelittlebigbamboo. I thought I’d share a little bit about myself and our quality Gracilis bamboo Melbourne plants!

I haven’t always been into plants, let alone bamboo and gardening. The truth is I’m probably still not into gardening but I do love bamboo!

I remember when I was younger my family garden was pristine. My dad had (and still has) a green thumb and our front and backyard were the envy of our neighbourhood. We had a fairly large backyard and my dad would spend hours in it pruning rose bushes, mowing lawns and killing weeds. He was amazing yet I had no interest in it.

We used to watch Burke’s Backyard religiously every week. We had one tv so I was forced to sit through it and I vowed every time that when I was an adult I would never watch a gardening show in my life.

Well fast forward 20 years, Better Homes and Gardens is on my must-watch list and quite often I sit through multiple episodes of Gardening Australia with my husband and actually enjoy it.

When I moved out of my family home I moved right in with another green thumb and garden lover, my husband Neesh. He is the other half of thelittlebigbamboo, but we shall discuss him another time.

I guess things change when you grow up and have a house of your own. I wanted our backyard to be beautiful and green but I didn’t want to do the hard work to get it there. What my husband taught me was that you can get a beautiful, tropical garden without too much effort but the key is to use high-quality & low maintenance plants. This is where my love for bamboo began. It makes our garden look incredible and most importantly I don’t kill it when my husband is away at work. We have many other tropical plants in our garden all of which are low maintenance but our bamboo is definitely the star.

So if you are anything like me when it comes to gardening, then our bamboo is for you. I tell all our customers that our bamboo is like me – low maintenance, however, I’m sure my husband would disagree?
